That is exactly why a growing DIY crowd around the 2026 Ford Ranger Raptor, 2027 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter, and 2026 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 is skipping the chrome catalog and getting serious about payload math, shock service, and clean OEM-plus upgrades.

The shift is bigger than style. Owners are figuring out that the best overland build is not the tallest one in the parking lot. It is the truck that stays legal, rides well, carries its weight honestly, and still works on Monday.

The New Midsize Overland Crowd Is Chasing Function, Not Flex
